Join a community of teachers and test out biotech labs!

Are you fascinated by gel electrophoresis and other biotech related techniques? Have you ever wanted to learn more about the techniques behind COVID testing kits? Then the Summer Biotech Series sounds right for you! The Summer Biotech Series is a free 3-day program that gives teachers the opportunity to work on biotechnology related lab activities. Teachers will be able to earn CEU credits for participation in the workshop. Lunch is provided!

Dates: Tuesday, June 11th - Thursday, June 13th
Times: 10am - 3pm
Location: Whitney Young High School (211 S Laflin St, Chicago, IL 60607)
Facilitators: Mary Clark, and The Baxter Center
ISBE Credits: Participants will receive 15 ISBE Professional Development credits for their participation. 
 

Labs and techniques that will be explored include:

Gel Electrophoresis
Pipetting
Bacterial Transformation or Resistance (from miniOne)
Disease Transmission (from Bio-Rad)
