Description:

Abbott’s FreeStyle Libre has become the most successful medical device of all time because it is simple, effective, and affordable.  It is a disruptive technology that has helped to usher in a new standard of care for diabetes management.  And that is why it is used by over 5.5 million people around the world today.

But you don’t always get it right the first time. Abbott’s first CGM was FreeStyle Navigator, which was a scientific breakthrough using our proprietary wired enzyme technology, but was complex, hard to manufacture and costly. As a result, it ultimately was not a commercial success and was eventually withdrawn from the market.

Hear how Abbott learned from this challenge and turned those learnings into a $5 billion product, with projections to further double in five years.
