The Northwestern University Chamber Orchestra's program opens with the overture to Rossini's opera La Cenerentola, based on the Cinderella fairy tale, and continues with Tchaikovsky's delicate Prayer from his Suite No. 4 in G Major. George Walker's anticipatory Tangents for Chamber Orchestra, the composer's tribute to the new millennium, concludes the first half of the program. Rounding out the evening is Mozart's colorful "Prague" Symphony—premiered in that city in the while the composer was still enjoying accolades for The Marriage of Figaro.
