In this talk, I will review the evolution of ideas surrounding the hydrodynamic behavior of electron liquids in solids and the pursuit of their experimental verification. The most recent developments focus on Dirac fluids, particularly as realized in monolayer graphene devices. I will present new results on observed transport effects and discuss their theoretical interpretation. I will conclude with open questions in electron hydrodynamics within the context of topological bands.
