Please join us at 7 p.m. Monday, Oct. 21 for a thought-provoking evening with sociologist and author Musa al-Gharbi as part of SESP’s Ray and Nancy Loeschner Lecture Series on Leadership. We will dive into themes from his latest book We Have Never Been Woke: The Cultural Contradictions of a New Elite. Space is limited for the event held at the Segal Visitors Center on Northwestern’s Evanston campus, so reserve your tickets as soon as possible.
Al-Gharbi’s research and writing challenges us to think critically about the language of social justice and the often-unintended outcomes of well-meaning activism. While al-Gharbi is deeply invested in understanding and combating forms of inequality, he is unflinchingly critical of the role of people and institutions who are not engaging in erasing inequalities.
Learn more about Musa al-Gharbi.
After Dean Brayboy's conversation with Professor al-Gharbi, we will have a live audience Q&A followed by a book signing.
