Title: Impacts of Hospital Ownership on Quality of Care
Abstract: We examine the impacts of for-profit ownership on hospital quality of care, primarily measured by mortality. Using an instrumental variables strategy to mitigate patient selection into hospital type, we find little difference in quality of care between for-profit and nonprofit hospitals.
