Please join us for a unique opportunity to explore new Jewish artists’ books in concert with/as rare Judaic materials. Artists’ books are a genre in which the book itself is used as an artistic medium. Jewish texts, with their long and rich history of interpretation, offer a robust crossing with this genre. New Jewish artists' books in our collection offer innovative articulations of textual creativity and illuminate the material relationship between books and the bodies who read them. This event will highlight the work of artists Andi Arnovitz, Lynne Avadenka, and Jacqueline Nicholls, in relation to the wider history of Jewish textual production and its various media. This is the first of two public events, exploring new and enduring facets of Northwestern University Library’s Jewish and Judaic materials through the interpretive lenses of its Jewish Studies faculty and students.
