The Symphonic Wind Ensemble kicks off NUNC! 6 (the Northwestern University New-Music Conference) with an opening concert featuring guest composer George Lewis’s Big Shoulders, Sharp Elbows, with its references to the city of Chicago as envisioned by the American poet Carl Sandburg. Bienen alumnus Andrew Nogal joins the ensemble in a performance of Christopher Stark’s Velocity Meadows for oboe, chamber winds, electronics, and video.
