Description:

Join us for an intimate and thought-provoking conversation with Professor Daisy Hernandez and Sonia Guiñansaca, one of the editors of SomeWhere We Are Human: Authentic Voices on Migration, Survival, and New Beginnings. This powerful anthology brings together 41 poignant essays, poems, and artworks by migrants, refugees, and Dreamers. The contributors illuminate how policies and borders impact their lives and identities—often with devastating effects.

In exploring the personal narratives within SomeWhere We Are Human, we are reminded of the complex and often painful histories of migration, colonization, and displacement that shape Latino communities today. Amid political debates marked by xenophobia and fear, this anthology calls for a shift in the narrative—one that prioritizes justice, humanity, and the lived truths of immigrants. SomeWhere We Are Human invites us to confront the real stories behind the headlines, moving beyond stereotypes to understand the diverse experiences of race, class, gender, and nationality that define the immigrant struggle.
