"What am I really – German or Turkish?" Six-year-old Cenk Yilmaz asks himself this question
when his soccer buddies vote him neither into the German or the Turkish team. To console him, his 22-year-old cousin Canan tells him the story of her grandfather Hüseyin, who came to Germany as a guest worker in the late sixties and later brought his wife and children over to join him. A lot of time has passed since the family left Turkey and Germany has become their home, but questions concerning the two cultures continue to arise and challenge the family members to explore and define their identities. A delightful and moving story and hugely successful and popular film.
