Title: Fracton phases of matter
Abstract: Fracton phases of matter are equivalence classes of quantum systems characterized by the presence of particle types with restricted mobility. Their study is an ongoing area of research in condensed matter theory. In this talk, I will give background on fracton phases, give some idea of the mathematical framework that can be used to study them and describe progress towards the classification of certain simple classes.
This talk will be based on joint work with Michael Hermele, Wilbur Shirley, Evan Wickenden and Bowen Yang.
