Speaker Bio:
"Maria Heim is the Crosby Professor of Religion at Amherst College. She received her PhD in Sanskrit and Indian Studies from Harvard University Press, and her BA in Religion and Philosophy at Reed College. She is a Guggenheim Fellow. Some of her recent books are How to Feel: An Ancient Guide to Minding our Emotions (Princeton, 2025), a translation of the Questions of Milinda (Harvard, 2025), and Words for the Heart: A Treasury of Classical Indian Emotions (Princeton, 2022). She works in Sanskrit and Pali, and is interested in literature, philosophy, and emotion."
