Harvey Felder, conductor; Marie Engle, soprano (Northwestern Concerto/Aria Competition winner)

Concluding the evening is Mendelssohn’s Symphony No. 4 in A Major, Op. 90 (“Italian”), a collection of impressions from his ten-month trip to Italy inspired by sunny blue skies, lively saltarello dances, religious solemnity, and timeless art and architecture.
