Alan Pierson and Ben Bolter, conductors
John Cage and Yoko Ono exploded ideas about what music and art could be, and blew open the boundary between popular music and the avant-garde. They were also friends and collaborators who both inspired one another, and debated the limits of the new artistic freedoms that their work had opened up. This program celebrates that artistic friendship, culminating in a simultaneous performance of work that each artist created in honor of the other.
