A mixed quintet committed to musical exploration and experimentation, the US-based TAK Ensemble delivers energetic performances “that combine crystalline clarity with the disorienting turbulence of a sonic vortex” (The Wire). Since its founding in 2013, the ensemble has premiered hundreds of works, with recent collaborations including large-scale works by composers Eric Wubbels, Michelle Lou, Brandon López, Tyshawn Sorey, and Weston Olencki. The ensemble’s 2019 album Oor launched their in-house media label TAK editions, which aims to support musical endeavors from across experimental music communities, highlighting direct conversations with artists through the Tak Editions Podcast. In this performance, the ensemble gives the world premieres of works by Bienen student composers.
