Colloquium: Roni Harnik: "Quantum Sensing for Fundamental Physics"

Friday, January 30, 2026 | 4:00 PM - 5:00 PM CT
Technological Institute, L211, 2145 Sheridan Road, Evanston, IL 60208 map it

I will review the connections of quantum field theory to modern quantum devices and opportunities to probe fundamental physics with a variety of quantum sensors. Some of the well-motivated extensions of the Standard Model of particle physics involve the existence of new light particles that interact with photons. Quantum computing and sensing  platforms are well suited to explore them, and sensing protocols are being explored to realize quantum advantage.
