AI for Research: Use AI Models on Your Computer with MediaPipe (Virtual)

Monday, May 11, 2026 | 12:00 PM - 1:00 PM CT

Incorporate AI into your projects by downloading and running models on your own computer with MediaPipe.

Google MediaPipe is an open-source framework that facilitates using AI models in your research. You can download and run Google’s deep learning models on your own computer and customize some of them to fit the needs of your project. In this workshop, you’ll learn what MediaPipe can do for your research, with hands-on examples in computer vision (e.g., detecting hands in images and videos), natural language processing (e.g., sentiment analysis), and audio analysis (e.g., classifying audio into speech, music, etc.).

Prerequisites: No prior machine learning experience is required. Participants should be familiar with Python at the level of the Python Fundamentals workshop, another introductory Python workshop, or be a self-taught Python coder.
