The 2026 Wallace Bacon Lecture in Performance

Studies features an artist talk and workshop in Dabke dance by Yaa Samar! Dance Theatre.

A method of folkloric dance from the Levant, YSDT will lead a workshop in Dabke blending contemporary dance and theatre with traditional Dabke technique. Formed by Samar Hadad King in 2005, and located between NYC and Palestine, YSDT draws together performance, art, dance, and theatre in commitment to the transformative capacities of performance and dance. With a repertoire of more than 30 original performances, ensembles, and group works, YSDT has presented work at venues including the Joyce SoHo, Baryshnikov Arts Center, Jacob's Pillow, and Tribeca Performing Arts Center and site-specific locations across the world.
