April 17th is observed by the State of Illinois as the Cambodian Genocide Day of Remembrance. The National Cambodian Heritage Museum and Killing Fields Memorial hosts an annual Day of Remembrance event that includes a candlelight vigil, followed by a panel discussion and a musical performance.
