Philharmonia’s first concert of the year opens with the overture to Nabucco, Verdi’s opera loosely based on the biblical figure of King Nebuchadnezzar. The orchestra continues with Sibelius’s En saga, a spirited and evocative tone poem. Beethoven’s popular Symphony No. 7 in A Major concludes the evening.
