Choosing and running software for sequence alignment.
The first step in almost all bioinformatic pipelines is sequence alignment. There are many software tools available to accomplish this task. This workshop covers common alignment tools for both DNA- and RNA reads—such as bwa, bowtie2, STAR, and HISAT2—and practical instructions for choosing between them and running them on the Quest High-Performance Computing (HPC) system.
This workshop requires a laptop with a terminal application installed and expects familiarity with working from the command line or attendance at the ‘Working from the Command Line’ workshop.
