Nuclear power is a form of reliable, low carbon, relatively affordable, and safe energy production. Careers in nuclear power often pay better than in other sectors, including other subsectors of the energy industry (solar, wind, some natural gas, etc.). The nuclear sector is undergoing a renaissance in operations, engineering, construction, and research and needs students and graduates from across STEM disciplines to support this expansion. Come hear from current professionals in different parts of the nuclear industry about their work to understand where you might fit in the nuclear industry. The presenters will share practical tips for how students from STEM majors can pursue a career in the nuclear industry. The presenters will stay after the presentation to talk more with interested students.

Amanda Bachmann - Nuclear Engineer at Argonne National Laboratory in nearby Lemont, IL. Lecturer at Northwestern University.
Joel Linden - Instrumentation and Controls Engineer in Sargent & Lundy’s Nuclear Power Group, based out of Chicago, IL.
Paul Steenwyk - Systems Engineer at Westinghouse Electric Company, one of the largest nuclear vendors in the country, at their headquarters near Pittsburgh, PA.
