In celebration of Opening Day at the new Ryan Field, Native American & Indigenous Affairs invites you to a Celebration with Tribal Historic Preservation Leaders on October 2, 2026 from 4:30 pm to 6:00pm at 2001 Sheridan Rd, Room 1105. This event will recognize and celebrate the culmination of the thoughtful Tribal Consultation process and the commissioning of new artwork that will adorn the exterior of the stadium.
As Northwestern works towards building and strengthening relationships with tribal nations in the Great Lakes area and beyond, recognizing and honoring tribal sovereignty through formal Consultation process is part of that work. Northwestern followed federal policy under Section 106 of the National Historic Preservation Act throughout the Ryan Field rebuild process, ensuring meaningful consultation with Tribal Historic Preservation Officers regarding the historically significant site. The result of this collaborative process has added value to the overall project and produced a beautiful partnership that we are proud to celebrate with the opening of the new Ryan Field.
