About the Seminar
LGBTQ+ youth of color are experiencing profound mental health inequities as a function of multi-level harms, yet conventional evidence-based care tends to privilege individual-level interventions and narrow definitions of effectiveness. The subject of a three-year participatory case study, the Boston GLASS model of care moves beyond clinical encounters towards a culturally and structurally responsive ecosystem, grounding care in social movements, collective joy and community, and lived expertise. The model expands conceptualization of the "active ingredients" and range of impacts of effective care and offers insights into opportunities to support and sustain community-led approaches.
About the Speaker
Shoba Ramanadhan, ScD, is an associate professor of social and behavioral sciences at the Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health. Ramanadhan is a behavioral scientist with expertise in implementation science, cancer disparities, and community-based participatory research. Their work focuses on strengthening systems in underserved communities to leverage the best available evidence for cancer prevention and control.
