Seminar Learning Objectives
1. Describe the application of mystery shopping as a community-engaged quality assessment methodology for identifying HIV prevention service gaps not captured by provider self-report or administrative data.
2. Identify implementation strategies, including digital navigation tools and workforce training, that leverage community-generated quality assessment data to improve HIV prevention service delivery for young men who have sex with men.
3. Apply lessons learned to evaluate the quality and responsiveness of HIV prevention services within their own practice or organizational contexts.
About the Speaker
Dr. José A. Bauermeister is the Albert M. Greenfield Professor of Human Relations at the University of Pennsylvania. Dr. Bauermeister's research focuses on HIV prevention and care among populations most affected by the epidemic, with particular attention to the implementation failures that sustain those disparities even when effective tools exist. His work integrates behavioral science, digital health, and community-engaged methods to evaluate and improve the systems through which prevention reaches, or fails to reach, those who need it most. He leads the User Preferences Core of the LEAP Network, a NIH-sponsored research resource infrastructure focused on long-acting and extended-release HIV and infectious disease products, and co-leads the Assets, Resources, Challenges and Context (ARCC) Scientific Leadership Group within the Adolescent Trials Network. He earned his PhD and MPH from the University of Michigan and his BA from the University of Puerto Rico - Mayagüez.
