Engage in a staged reading of the play Rootwoman, presented by Northwestern Theater undergraduates in Wirtz Center room 101 at 7pm on Thursday, October 8th.
This unique theatrical work, termed a choreopoem by its playwright Angela Shannon Preston, weaves together over 40 poems to make a lyrical presentation deeply imbued with the spirit of Chicagoans. Powerfully directed by Northwestern University Professor and Associate Acting Area Head Detra Payne, produced by Theatre junior Brooks Lansana, and featuring an all-Black women ensemble, this reading breathes new life into this evocative stage work.
