20th Anniversary Celebration Agenda

Visiting the Garden throughout the Day

Anniversary event participants are welcome to:

-Enter the Garden free of charge (provide your name at the parking kiosk and entry and say that you are coming for the science festival and anniversary celebration)
-Park free of charge
-Explore the Garden grounds throughout the day

Feel free to arrive whenever works best for your schedule.

Daytime Activities

11:00 a.m. - 4:00 p.m. | CBG Science Festival
Location: Plant Science Building Atrium

Join current Chicago Botanic Garden scientists, staff, and graduate students to learn about ongoing research & conservation projects. Exhibits will highlight topics including invasive species and habitat restoration, native seed farming, seed banking, scientific collections, pollination biology, and population genetics.

This event is open to both Garden visitors and staff, and we encourage anniversary participants to stop by and reconnect with the Garden’s science & conservation programs.

11:00 a.m. - 4:00 p.m. | Alumni Gathering Space
Location: Plant Science Building Seminar Room

The seminar room will be open throughout the day as a casual space for alumni, current students, faculty, and staff to connect.

Stop by to:

-Enjoy coffee, tea, and light snacks
-Catch up with old friends and colleagues
-Meet fellow alumni, current students, and staff
-Add your information to our "Where Are They Now?" board

Feel free to drop in at any time.

4:00 - 4:50 p.m. | Private Alumni Garden Tram Tour

A private tram tour for anniversary participants will depart from outside the Plant Science Building and conclude near the Regenstein Center and McGinley Pavilion in time for the evening celebration.

Anniversary Celebration

Location: McGinley Pavilion

The official anniversary celebration begins at 5:00 p.m. 

5:00 - 5:15 p.m. | Arrival

Attendees arrive and get settled.

5:15 - 5:30 p.m.  | Welcoming Remarks & Networking Activity

Brief remarks from the past, present, and future:

5:30- 5:50 | Networking Activity

A short activity to help attendees connect with one another.

5:50 pm – 7:00pm | Dinner & Conversation

Dinner service will begin at approximately 5:50, followed by plenty of time to eat and chat.

Note: rain location will be Nichols Hall in the Regenstein Center
