All day

Where: Lakefill,

Group: CARE (Center for Awareness, Response and Education)

Category: Lectures & Meetings

Description:

As shared by The National Clothesline Project, in the summer of 1990, activist groups on Cape Cod, Massachusetts developed a program that sought to educate, break the silence and bear witness to violence against women. This small, core group, many of whom had experienced some form of personal violence were inspired by the AIDS quilt activism and developed this “In-your-face" educational and healing tool.

This tradition continues today with a much more accurate and expansive lens on the wide array of intersectional identities of folks who have experienced various of forms of violence, including but not limited to sexual violence, intimate partner violence, and stalking. Join NU’s Speak for Change at the Lakefill for a public display of support and affirmations for these stories. Participants are welcome to decorate a t-shirt of their own to be displayed or bear witness to what others have created.
