The International Institute for Nanotechnology (IIN) catalyzes and supports world-class interdisciplinary nanoscience research to address the world's most pressing problems in medicine, the environment, information technology, energy, homeland security, food and water safety, and transportation. Established in 2000, the IIN currently represents and unites over $1 billion in nanotechnology research, educational programs and infrastructure. The IIN has also created an innovation ecosystem that efficiently moves technologies form the laboratory to the marketplace. Since its inception, more than 2,000 products and systems have been commercialized worldwide. Twenty-three start-up companies have been launched based upon IIN research, attracting over $1 billion in venture capital funding.
