"The Ajax Problem: Sophocles and the Politics of Good Sense.”

Larissa M. Atkison is a postdoctoral fellow at Northwestern University, funded by the Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council of Canada (SSHRC). Atkison specializes in ancient political thought and contemporary democratic theory. Her book manuscript, Tragic Judgment, examines political judgment through the lens of Sophoclean tragedy. Atkison received her doctorate in Political Science at the University of Toronto and spent two years at the University of South Carolina teaching political theory and as a “Classics in Contemporary Perspectives” postdoctoral fellow. Prior to her time at Northwestern she held her (SSHRC) postdoctoral fellowship at the University of Chicago. Her work has been published in Political Theory, POLIS, and the Blackwell Companion to Greek and Roman Participatory Communities and she has a chapter forthcoming with Ryan Balot ” in Brill Companion to Aeschylus’ Reception.
