Presentation by Enzo Toral NU Ph.D. student in Performance Studies: "Satirical Structure of Folklore and Religion in Ariano Suassuna's Auto da Compadecida"

By focusing on both the play and film forms of this work, we will shed light on the ways that satire operates in portraying and complicating representations of folklore and religion in the context of the Brazilian Northeast. In this process, we will attain to the political implications of this work within satirical structure that are brought to life through performance.
