Description:

As secretariat of the U7+ Alliance of World Universities, Northwestern University has been especially focused on climate change and intergenerational justice most recently joining 29 universities from 12 countries in committing to lower emissions and enhance access to climate education. Also, delegates from Northwestern attended the 26th United Nations Climate Change Conference of the Parties (COP26) in Glasgow. The faculty and student participants joined nearly 200 world leaders and tens of thousands of negotiators, government representatives and citizens to observe, share knowledge from their own research and bring back insights to broaden perspectives and share with the Northwestern community.

As a post-COP26 event, Northwestern Buffett will host a Fireside Chat with Senator Tammy Duckworth on December 2 from 1:00 to 1:45 p.m. CDT. Senator Duckworth will talk about her leadership in the Senate on issues of climate justice affecting underserved communities, as both a founding member of the Senate’s Environmental Justice Caucus and sitting member of the Senate Democrats’ Special Committee on the Climate Crisis.

Please join us to hear Senator Duckworth's thoughts on vital issues of environmental justice, and how universities can contribute to international climate change action.
