Cancer prevention with drugs seems like a simple concept, akin to treatment of hypertension or high cholesterol. But even after a medication is proven to be useful, the road to successful implementation is tortuous. Tamoxifen is a case in point, and will be used to illustrate the barriers and solutions inherent in the prevention paradigm.
