Mentoring in academic medicine has long been conceived of as both an expectation and “a given.” How mentoring is happening, if it is being done well, how it could be done differently, and how it can be improved have less often been explored. Dr. Cameron will share the innovative changes made to the mentoring programs offered through the Northwestern University Clinical and Translational Sciences (NUCATS) Institute and discuss the assessment and outcomes of current programs.

Guest:
Kenzie A. Cameron, PhD, MPH
Professor of Medicine
Director, NUCATS Mentoring Programs
Northwestern University Feinberg School of Medicine

Kenzie Cameron is a Professor in the Division of General Internal Medicine and Geriatrics, Department of Medicine with secondary appointments in the Departments of Medical Education, Preventive Medicine, and Medical Social Sciences. She is passionate about mentoring across the academic continuum and serves as the Director of Mentoring Programs in the Center for Education and Career Development of the Northwestern University Clinical and Translational Sciences (NUCATS) Institute. She was awarded the FSM 2016 Mentor of the Year award and was a recipient of the 2022 Northwestern Provost Award.
