Please join the Northwestern Roberta Buffett Institute for Global Affairs for a fireside chat with Beatrice Fihn, former executive director of the International Campaign to Abolish Nuclear Weapons (ICAN), the 2017 Nobel Peace Prize-winning campaign coalition that works to prohibit and eliminate nuclear weapons. She led the campaign for nearly a decade and worked to mobilize civil society throughout the development of the United Nations Treaty on the Prohibition of Nuclear Weapons, the first legally binding international agreement to comprehensively prohibit nuclear weapons.
Previously, she managed the disarmament program at the Women's International League for Peace and Freedom and the Reaching Critical Will project, and worked with the Geneva Centre for Security Policy. Fihn holds a master’s degree in law from the University of London and a bachelor’s degree in international relations from Stockholm University.
A reception with wine, cheese and other refreshments will follow the in-person program. You may register to attend virtually or register to attend in person.
