Description:

The Northwestern Roberta Buffett Institute for Global Affairs invites you to join us for a Fireside Chat on Monday, September 11 at 4:00 p.m. CDT featuring Professor Kohei Itoh, President of Keio University in Tokyo, Japan, in conversation with Michael R. Wasielewski, Clare Hamilton Hall Professor of Chemistry at Northwestern University and Executive Director of the Northwestern Paula M. Trienens Institute for Sustainability and Energy, and moderated by Annelise Riles, Associate Provost for Global Affairs at Northwestern University and Executive Director of the Northwestern Buffett Institute.

The general public tends to believe in pessimistic perspectives of quantum computing expressed by “experts” who have no experience in using actual quantum computers. Professor Kohei Itoh will introduce state-of-the-art quantum computer hardware developments and demonstrate the promising future of quantum computers based on current algorithm and software research that takes full advantage of the actual quantum computers available today. Near-future applications of quantum computing in the scientific and industrial sectors will be discussed.
