Northwestern University’s Buffett Institute for Global Affairs invites graduate students to a seminar with Diego Aripse-Bazán (Anthropology). Professor Bazán is a linguistic and cultural anthropologist, whose research centers on the production and circulation of history via linguistic and discursive strategies. His ethnographic research follows a fine-grained approach to understanding the composition of categories of race and class in Latin America as intertwined colonial processes.
He will speak with students about his research and experience engaging Latin American communities. The talk will focus on ethical and effective strategies for community-engaged research methodologies. The talk will be followed by Q&A discussion. Lunch will be provided.
Please note that 720 University Place is not an ADA-accessible space. Increasing physical access to buildings and facilities is a goal of the University, but not all buildings and venues have been updated.
