The Habitable Worlds Observatory (HWO) is a future NASA ultraviolet/optical/near-infrared flagship mission recommended by the Astro2020 decadal survey. HWO is set to revolutionize many fields in astrophysics, from being the first telescope specifically designed to search for markers of life on Earth-like planets orbiting Sun-like stars, to understanding the origin of the heaviest elements in the universe. This talk will give an overview of the potential science breadth achievable with HWO and describe the engineering and technology maturation efforts underway.

Speaker: Breann Sitarski, NASA Goddard Space Flight Center
