Join Northwestern Medill and the Roberta Buffett Institute for Global Affairs for “Press Freedom Under Fire: Threats to Journalism and Democracy.”
This two-day event features some of the world’s foremost scholars, journalists and advocates who are experiencing the challenges of this time in our world’s history and endeavoring to report important stories despite the threats.
At 5:30 p.m. on Oct. 23, Wendy McMahon, former president of CBS News, will be our keynote speaker, followed by a reception. Medill also will present the Foley-Medill Medal for Courage in Journalism.
From 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. on Oct. 24, a day of panel discussions featuring notable journalists and scholars will discuss the threats to journalism from a legal, financial and physical perspective while also discussing ways to overcome these challenges. Lunch will be provided.
