Press Freedom Under Fire: Threats to Journalism and Democracy-Day 2

Please join Medill and the Roberta Buffett Institute for Global Affairs for robust discussions with domestic and international newsroom leaders, experts and on-the-ground reporters about the challenges facing journalists.

At 5:30 p.m. on Oct. 23, Wendy McMahon, former president of CBS News, will be our keynote speaker, followed by a reception. Medill also will present the Foley-Medill Medal for Courage in Journalism.

Friday, Oct. 24th from 9:00-2:45 p.m. - panel discussions on digital and physical threats to journalists, and legal and financial threats and opportunities for journalists. Confirmed panelists include:

Julie Pace, executive editor of the Associated Press
Roberson Alphonse, head of national news at Le Nouvelliste, Haiti's oldest and largest daily newspaper
April Xu, journalist at Documented
Adam Ganucheau, editor-in-chief at Mississippi Today
Tenzin Pema, University of Michigan Knight-Wallace journalism fellow
Chris Casquejo, former correspondent and program host for Voice of America
 

Lunch will be provided.
