From Director Leo David Hyde (Call Me Intern) and producers Daniel Bertossa and John Christensen (The Spider’s Web: Britain’s Second Empire) comes The Finance Curse - the first documentary film to expose the shocking truth about how financialisation is robbing the vast majority of us while enriching a handful of billionaires and shifting political power into the hands of global corporations.

The Finance Curse traces the rise of a set of economic and political ideas promoted since the 1940s by followers of the Mont Pelerin Society at the University of Chicago, and the World Economic Forum. Funded by oceans of oligarch money and backed by their pet think-tanks, these ideas have transformed the behaviour of companies, markets and governments around the world.

Through extensive research and interviews with care workers, farmers, finance insiders, politicians and academics, The Finance Curse reveals the rise of super extractive capitalism and shows how giant corporations have corrupted politicians, regulators, and media.

This film explains what has gone wrong with our economies and offers a range of policy measures to push back against unaccountable corporate power.
